Lordex® Program
What does Lordex® mean?
The proprietary equipment developed by Lordex® took 15 years of research to become what is now known in doctors’ offices across the country as the Lordex® Lumbar Spine System. The Lordex® word was derived from lordosis of the lumbar spine and exercise. Lordosis describes the appropriate anterior curvature of a healthy lumbar spine. The system is comprised of the Lordex® Decompression Unit, the RX1 Lordex® Strength Restoration machine, and the therapist-assisted Lordex® Stretch-Flex program
By "reeducating" the nerve fibers through subtle movement, patients are able to restore health to the sensory nerves; transmitting healthy signals rather than debilitating pain. Patients suffering with herniated disc, degenerative joint disease, sciatica and facet syndrome now have this option; a treatment that has been demonstrated to be successful in the alleviation of pain.
Lordex® Program
Our program accomplishes what the other decompression programs do and more. Once we get relief and correction to a patient’s spine we include exercises for stability in order to have long-term results with this treatment. In our program we offer icing and low level light therapy that help speed the healing process. We have a relaxation station that you can take advantage of while you’re here for your appointment. We also provide nutritional counseling and other individualized therapies to help stabilize the spine. All these services, in addition to decompression, help you to accomplish good health & well being. These are reasons why we chose to open the Lordex® Spine Center and treat hundreds of patients successfully every year.
We create individual treatment plans for our patients based on the severity of their condition. Some people respond to treatment in as little as 3 to 4 visits. More severe conditions often require more time to heal. The doctor will advise you every step of the way. Since we are very affordable our patients can always get the treatment they need.
The Lordex® Spine Treatment is a step by step process.
Step 1 – You meet with the Doctor to have a consultation about the treatment. At that appointment the doctor will go over any MRI’s, x-rays, CT’s that you bring to the appointment. If you do not have x-rays we will take those at your complimentary consultation at no cost to you. The doctor will determine at that appointment if you are a candidate for the Lordex® procedure.
Step 2 – You undergo a compatibility test. Please wear comfortable loose clothing to this appointment. You will undergo a brief session on the Lordex® Decompression Unit to see how well the therapy will work for you.
Step 3 – If it was determined that decompression therapy will benefit you, the doctor will set up a plan and you will be scheduled to start your treatments.
Your Visits
Each visit follows a simple protocol. We request that you arrive 10 minutes early to prepare for your Lordex® treatment. You are invited to dress comfortably. Before starting either the Lordex® Decompression Unit, the RX1 Strength Machine, or the spine stabilizer you will be asked to please remove any jewelry or cell phones and to visit the lavatory. You are welcome to bring your favorite CD to enjoy while relaxing on the LDU, or choose from our audio library.
During each procedure, you will be fitted with a pelvic harness and a chest vest. While you are comfortably positioned on your back, a knee wedge will support your legs and a small cushion will support your lumbar region. The Lordex® decompression table slowly and gently separates to relieve you of pressure that pinches the nerves. This allows for vital circulation to be restored to the damaged, painful areas of the lower back. This stimulates your body’s natural healing process.
3 Phases of the Lordex® Procedure
Phase 1 is Relief
The goal is to relieve you of the pressure in your back that is causing the pain. Most people find this treatment very relaxing and some even fall asleep. As a general rule, most guests experience significant changes in symptoms within the first 3-8 Lordex® treatments. Relief response varies according to age, body morphology and degree of severity.
Phase 2 is Healing
As strength is regained in the lumbar spine, circulation is restored to the damaged disc, and the healing begins. This healing process occurs simultaneously with symptom relief. Chiropractic adjustments, low level light therapy and nutrition also play an important role in the healing process.
Phase 3 is Strengthening Following decompression, you will begin strength restoration therapy on the RX1 to re-stabilize your spine or the ATM Spine Stabilizer. Next to the leg muscles, the muscles of the lower back (erector spinae) are the largest muscle group in the body. Without the strength and support of these muscles, the low back becomes weak and unstable. The RX1 and the Spine Stabilizer were designed to effectively make your back strong and stable.
Each RX1 procedure consists of
1. Pelvic stabilization.
2. Eccentric/concentric progressive resistance throughout your own range of motion in both flexion and extension
3. Release.
Each Spine Stabilizer procedure consists of
1. Small movements designed to increase the strength of your core muscles and retrain them to support your spine.
During each session you will be coached on exercise form, breathing, control and focus on the lumbar spine. The flexion/extension repetitions introduce a kinetic activity that produces strength gain and stabilization.
